Sometimes, in politics, you don’t have to be good. You just have to be lucky. And, in three states this year, Democrats sure got lucky in the Tea Party candidates they end up running against.
In fact, they’re calling it the “Tea Party Triple Crown.”
Starting with Kentucky, and zany Rand Paul. He wants to get rid of all federal mining and air pollution regulations and let businesses choose whether or not to bring back segregated lunch counters. Bad news for Republicans. Good news for Jack Conway.
In Colorado, Ken Buck. Wants to get rid of Social Security, and the Department of Education, and the separation of church and state. And change the 14th Amendment of the Constitution. Bad news for Republicans. Good news for Michael Bennett.
And in Nevada, the all-so-wacky Sharron Angle. Who also wants to get rid of both Social Security and Medicare, while accusing Americans of violating the First Commandment by putting government ahead of God.
Rand Paul, Ken Buck, Sharron Angle. Three Tea Partiers. It’s hard to tell which one is the craziest.
Kentucky, Colorado, Nevada. Three states Democrats were afraid of losing. Three states now Democrats are sure to win.
That’s my parting shot for today.
