Here we go again, with good news and bad news.
The good news is that President Obama is up over Mitt Romney in every national poll. The good news is that President Obama is up over Mitt Romney in every one of the key battleground states.
The good news is that 60 percent of Americans now think President Obama will be re-elected. Only 30 percent of Americans think Mitt Romney will take over.
The bad news is: Democrats could get too cocky, start to relax – and blow this thing, as only Democrats can do.
Make no mistake about it. This presidential election is still too damned close. With some 40 days to go, anything – another blow-up in the Middle East, or a stumble in one of the debates – could turn things upside down for Obama.
And then there are all those important Congressional races. Democrats must hold onto the Senate and win back the House for President Obama to get anything done in his second term.
So, good news in the polls is a good reason for Democrats to work harder than ever. Otherwise, there’ll be nothing but bad news on November 6.
That’s my parting shot for today.
