Hey, what happened?
Chicago not only didn’t win. Chicago didn’t even come close. Got knocked out on the first round.
So did Obama make a mistake by going all the way to Copenhagen?
First of all, he was out of the White House for less than 24 hours. And, during that time, he also managed to squeeze in a meeting with the top general in Afghanistan.
Second, had he not gone, he would have been the only head of state among the four competing cities missing in action. Not a great show of force for the United States.
Third, the Olympics are worth fighting for because they bring jobs, good will, great publicity, and lots of tourist dollars to their host city and country.
That’s what Republicans don’t seem to understand. Win or lose, it’s the president’s job to fight for the USA.
It was not only not wrong for Obama to go to Copenhagen, it would have been wrong for him not to have gone.
Better to put up a good fight and lose – than to put up no fight at all.
That’s my parting shot for today.
