What do you get when you put Tim Pawlenty, Rick Santorum, Herman Cain, Ron Paul, and Gary Johnson on the same stage together? A plea for help!
That’s what we heard from the Republican Party after those five light-weights showed up for the first GOP 2012 debate: a plea for help from some heavy-weight willing to take on Barack Obama.
But the candidate stepping forward today isn’t the answer, either.
Forget the personal stuff about Newt Gingrich. I don’t care how many wives he’s had. See how liberal I am? It’s all the other baggage that will sink the Newt.
This is the guy who shut down the government in 1995. This is the guy who whined because President Clinton wouldn’t let him sit up front, with him, on Air Force One. This is the guy who resigned, after paying a $300,000 fine for violation of House Ethics Rules – as Speaker!
And now he wants to become president?
And this is the same guy who said we should bomb Libya and then, when Obama did, turned around and said we should never bomb Libya.
And now he wants to become president?
Forget it. Republicans had better keep on looking.
That’s my parting shot for today.
