You know the old saying: “Do as I say, not as I do.”
That’s John Boehner’s theme song when it comes to government spending.
Yeah, he talks a good game about needing to cut spending. He almost shut down the government over the 2011 budget, and is now refusing to raise the debt ceiling without even more cuts.
Yet, then he turns around and hires a special attorney to defend the Defense of Marriage Act – which is so blatantly unconstitutional the Obama administration won’t defend it, anymore.
And he’s paying this attorney the princely sum of $520 an hour – with a cap of $500,000 – which, of course, Boehner can raise anytime he wants to.
That’s not only an outrageous waste of money. Nobody’s worth $520 an hour. It’s also un-American.
Because Boehner is using our tax dollars to pay a Beltway lawyer $520 an hour to go to court and defend – discrimination. To make the case that some Americans don’t deserve the same rights under the Constitution, simply because they happen to be gay.
Yes, John Boehner talks about cutting spending. Yet he turns out to be the biggest spender of all – and the biggest hypocrite!
That’s my parting shot for today.
