Most of the time I agree with every word he says, but this time…
Sunday, on “Meet the Press,” David Gregory asked former President Bill Clinton if there was still a “vast right-wing conspiracy” out there. “You bet,” he replied.
I think he’s only half-right. Of course, there’s a right-wing conspiracy out there. Always has been, always will be.
But it’s nowhere near as vast as it used to be. A “mini right-wing conspiracy” is more like it.
Because President Obama’s problem today is not that the right is so organized. It’s that the left is so disorganized. They have 60 votes in the Senate, but they can’t even get all 60 to line up and vote for closure.
No, President Clinton, it’s not Republicans who are blocking President Obama’s health care reform legislation. It’s Democrats – Democrats more interested in serving the insurance companies than serving the American people.
So, I say “Bring back the vast right-wing conspiracy.” It’s a lot more fun fighting do-nothing Republicans than fighting our own cowardly Democrats.
That’s my parting shot for today.
