It’s laugh-out loud funny, hearing Republican reaction to the latest job numbers.
As you know, we lost 8.5 million jobs during the Bush recession. And it’s going to take a long time to get them all back.
In January 2009, the last month of the Bush administration, we lost 740,000 jobs. In February 2010, we still lost 11,000 jobs. But in March, for the first time in three years, we actually gained new jobs: 162,000 of them.
And you should have heard Republicans complain. That’s not good enough, they said. Unemployment’s still at 9.7 percent. And too many of these jobs are just temporary jobs.
LOL. You know what it is, they hate Obama so much, they’ll never find anything good to say as long as he’s president. We could have gained 8.5 million jobs in March, and they still would have complained.
Look, is 162,000 good enough? No, of course not. We still have a long, long way to go. But it proves that we are, at last, on our way back.
And here’s one thing for sure: If you didn’t get a pay check in February, but you did get one in March – this is good news, indeed.
That’s my parting shot for today.
