It’s high noon in Madison – and the crowds just keep getting bigger and bigger.
On Tuesday, 10,000. On Wednesday, 15,000. On Thursday, 25,000. Nobody has seen protests this big in Wisconsin – ever.
They’re protesting, of course, Governor Scott Walker’s plan to cut public employee salaries and benefits, and then shut down public employee labor unions. A draconian plan he had just enough votes to force through a gutless Republican State Senate, until……
Senate Democrats high-tailed it out of town, left the state – leaving the Senate without a quorum, and preventing Senate Republicans from bringing Walker’s bill up for a vote.
Hallelujah! Now maybe Walker and Republicans will listen to the people of Wisconsin and call off their war on unions.
And how exciting it is to see Democratic politicians in Wisconsin stand up and fight for what’s right.
Too often, in Washington, on too many issues, Democrats just roll over. But not in Madison. And good for them.
I don’t know about you, but I’m sick and tired of seeing Democrats cave in without a fight. It’s great finally to see some Democrats with backbone!
That’s my parting shot for today.
