If there were still any question that Fox News might be a legitimate news operation, there is no longer.
With Chris Wallace’s sycophantic interview of Rush Limbaugh, they proved yet again that they offer nothing but pure partisan propaganda.
Wallace, who prides himself on asking tough questions of everybody, did nothing but kiss Limbaugh’s butt. Teeing him up like this:
“You have now taken to calling Mr. Obama the man-child president. What does that mean?”
Or: “This week it will be one year since Barack Obama was elected president. In that time, what has he done for and to the country?”
And then there was this tough one: “I think you’re a great broadcaster. How can you possibly be worth that kind of money?”
At which point, I expected him to ask for Limbaugh’s autograph, or give him a big hug.
But, to be fair, we can’t be too hard on Chris Wallace. He was only following orders.
Fox News is the Republican Party Network. And Rush Limbaugh is the head of the Republican Party. So, of course, he was going to get special treatment.
After all, you wouldn’t expect the official Vatican newspaper to say anything critical about the Pope!
That’s my parting shot for today.
