I think this country would be better off with more female elected leaders. And I can’t wait for our first female president.
Seriously, I want to see more women in politics. I’m a long-time supporter of Emily’s List and the Women’s Campaign Committee. I’ve even helped raise money for them.
I admire Democrats like Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein, Debbie Stabenow, and Barbara Boxer. And Republicans like Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Olympia Snowe, and Kay Bailey Hutchinson.
But why do we have to put up with female tea partiers like Michelle Bachmann and Christine O’Donnell?
In their latest rants, Bachmann opposes Obama’s tax deal because, she says, it extends unemployment benefits from 99 months to over 3 years. She’s dead wrong. No, it doesn’t. 99’ers get nothing under the agreement.
Christine O’Donnell also came out in opposition to extending unemployment benefits. Which, she argues, is as big a tragedy for this country as the death of Elizabeth Edwards and the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
No, the biggest tragedy is seeing the dumbing down of American politics by idiots like those two. And their Tea Party sister Sharon Angle.
Nothing against the Tea Party, but why are its women leaders such ding-bats?
That’s my parting shot for today.
