If there’s one thing I like about Barack Obama, it’s that he’s willing to change his mind.
Sure, during the campaign he argued against offshore drilling, while John McCain and Sarah Palin argued for it.
Offshore drilling was no silver bullet, Obama insisted. It wouldn’t do anything to lower gas prices. There was too little oil out there and it would take too long to get it. And, besides, there were already tons of areas approved for offshore drilling that oil companies hadn’t even started to develop.
But that was then, and this is now. Now, Barack Obama has done a giant flip-flop and proposed more offshore drilling than any president in decades.
And I like that. Because we need offshore drilling. I totally support President Obama’s call for more offshore drilling – off both coasts!
April Fools! Actually, I think this is a disaster. Environmentally, economically, and politically.
President Obama is making a big mistake. The arguments against offshore drilling today are even stronger than the ones he made in 2008. And if he thinks he’s going to gain any Republican votes for climate change by caving in on offshore drilling….Didn’t he learn anything from health care?
Honest to God. I never thought I’d hear Barack Obama chanting: “Drill, baby, drill.”
That’s my parting shot for today.
